What's New For 2022?

Nothing much changes for the 2022 Elantra over the previous version, but there is a notable addition to the lineup for this small sedan. That's the introduction of the Elantra N, a high-performance version of this compact four-door, offering a fun, turbocharged, 276-horsepower engine upgrade along with some added features and special styling that you'll want to consider if you value performance over efficiency in your next small sedan.

Performance and Technology

With the new N, and the other sporty Elantra, the N Line, you'll have a couple of engine upgrades beyond the base 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Additionally, a hybrid version of the Elantra delivers a 1.6-liter four-cylinder mated with an electric motor setup, delivering 139 horsepower with up to 54 mpg combined highway and city driving. Meanwhile, the N Line edition offers a 201-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and the Elantra N tops you out with 276 horsepower thanks to its turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder.

Even in its small package, the new Elantra offers plenty of smart tech features, even in its base level. You'll start off with a standard touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration and more, with plenty of options and upgrades for your infotainment features found in higher trims. You'll also have several standard driver aids, including forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping assist and more.
